StudyShark is an online educational platform built specifically for South African high school students (Grades 8–12) following the CAPS and IEB curricula. We offer interactive lessons, quizzes, gamification (XP, streaks, badges), and progress tracking to make studying more effective and a lot less boring.
StudyShark is operated by CloudCafe (Pty) Ltd, based in South Africa.
By creating an account or using StudyShark, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian should also read and agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
When you create an account you are responsible for:
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must give their consent for you to use StudyShark.
StudyShark uses a freemium model:
Payments are processed securely by Paystack, a trusted South African payment provider. We do not store your card details — Paystack handles all payment information. All prices are displayed in ZAR and include VAT where applicable.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel at any time through your account settings. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, but if you have a problem please contact us and we will do our best to help.
All lessons, presentations, quiz questions, graphics, and other educational content on StudyShark belong to StudyShark (CloudCafe (Pty) Ltd) or our content partners. You may use it for your own personal studying — that is exactly what it is for.
You may not copy, resell, redistribute, or share our content with others outside the platform without our written permission. That includes screenshotting lessons to share on social media or WhatsApp groups.
When you use StudyShark, we record your quiz answers, lesson progress, XP earned, streaks, and similar activity. This data belongs to you and helps us personalise your learning experience (for example, our spaced repetition reminders).
By using StudyShark you give us permission to use this anonymised, aggregated data to improve our content and platform. We do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

StudyShark is designed to supplement your schoolwork, not replace it. Our content is aligned with the CAPS and IEB curricula, but we make no guarantees about exam results or academic outcomes. Always engage with your teachers and school resources as your primary source of education.
StudyShark is provided "as is". We work hard to keep everything running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will always be available or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, StudyShark is not liable for any indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the platform.
Our total liability to you in any circumstances will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. We will delete your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms. If we do, we will try to let you know why.
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify you by email if the changes are significant. Continued use of StudyShark after changes means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
