Grade 9 Natural Sciences
Ionic bonding is a type of chemical bond that occurs between a metal and a non-metal. The metal loses electrons (becoming a positively charged cation) and the non-metal gains those electrons (becoming a negatively charged anion). These opposite charges attract each other, forming a strong ionic bond.
